Asthma can often be misdiagnosed, but our team of pediatric pulmonologists—ranked best in California by U.S. News and World Report—has decades of experience diagnosing and treating asthma and many other lung conditions.

This means they can confidently diagnose and treat kids who are wheezing or have a chronic cough, whether they have asthma or another lung disease.

We are also the only center in the Bay Area with the equipment to accurately measure lung function in infants and toddlers. Once a child is diagnosed with asthma, our team works with the patient and his or her family to understand any environmental or activity triggers that may be making the child’s asthma worse and to develop a plan to control them. We educate patients and families on how to manage asthma at home, including flare-ups and how to monitor asthma severity over time.

Treatment depends on a variety of individual factors, and we work with families to create a custom treatment plan for each patient. Depending on the patient, treatments can include traditional medication, environmental changes and integrative medicine—all designed to effectively control asthma symptoms with the fewest possible side effects.
